The Jujitsu Club was started as a student group at the University of Colorado in February 2006 as a way for students and the Denver metro community to practice Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, a comprehensive martial art that includes elements of Karate, Judo, traditional Japanese Jujitsu and many other martial arts. Students learn how to roll and fall safely, escape holds, apply joint locks, throw opponents, grappling techniques, weapons offenses and defenses, proper stances, punches, kicks, and blocks.

It is our philosophy that students should learn how to heal anything they can break, therefore, students also learn CPR, First Aid, athletic taping, oriental bone setting and joint relocation, as well as oriental massage and healing methods.  We teach in a friendly, supportive, noncompetitive environment, where students are taught at their own pace and in the Hawaiian spirit of kokua.

Our jujitsu dojo is a member of the Amateur Athletic Union, a non-profit organization dedicated to amateur sports programs and the physical, mental, and moral development of amateur athletes and to promoting good sportsmanship and good citizenship. Our dojo (school) is not for profit. All income from class fees goes to support the dojo including purchase and maintenance of mats, gear, practice equipment, etc. None of our instructors are paid, but work on a volunteer basis because they love martial arts and everything martial arts have to offer.
